Sciatica and nerve pain treatment in Dubai.

Sciatica is nerve pain that travels from the low back or buttock down the back of the leg, along the path of the sciatic nerve. It is often linked to a disc bulge or herniation. It is a symptom rather than a diagnosis, so the first job is to find what is irritating the nerve.

Book about sciaticaHow I can help

Dr. Haleema Khan testing a patient’s arm reflexes with a reflex hammer

What it can feel like.

  • Burning, shooting or electric pain down one leg, sometimes below the knee
  • Tingling, pins and needles or numbness in the leg or foot
  • Pain that is worse when sitting, coughing or sneezing
  • Low back or buttock pain alongside the leg pain

Common causes.

  • A bulging or herniated disc pressing on a nerve root in the lower spine
  • Narrowing around the nerves (spinal stenosis), more common in older adults
  • Tight muscles deep in the buttock
  • Pregnancy

How I can help.

  • A neurological check of reflexes, strength and sensation to see which nerve is involved
  • Gentle adjustments and low-force techniques, adapted to how irritable the nerve is
  • Positions and exercises that take pressure off the nerve
  • Advice on sitting, sleeping and staying active
  • A referral for an MRI or to a specialist if there are signs of significant nerve compression

I mainly use the Diversified technique: precise, hands-on adjustments that restore movement to stiff joints. Low-force instruments and soft-tissue work are always available if you prefer a gentler approach.

When to see a doctor urgently.

Please call 998 for an ambulance or go to the nearest emergency department, or see a doctor the same day, if you have:

  • Numbness around the groin, inner thighs or back passage
  • New problems controlling your bladder or bowel
  • Sciatica in both legs at the same time
  • A foot that drags or weakness that is getting worse
  • Leg pain with a fever or feeling generally unwell

Questions people ask.

Many people with sciatica improve with conservative care, including chiropractic, exercise and time. After assessing you, I will tell you honestly whether chiropractic is suitable or whether you need another kind of care first.

Yes, with the right approach. Treatment is adapted to you, and I use low-force methods when a nerve is irritable. Nothing is done without explaining it and asking your consent.

Not usually at the start. An MRI is helpful when there are warning signs, when weakness is present, or when symptoms are not settling. I will refer you if you need one.
